All of my years at High School, I played tennis. I have been playing tennis since I was 8 years old through the Holmen Park and Rec. I usually had played doubles while I JV my freshman year. I switched to a little bit of singles play for the first bit of my sophomore year.
Then, later in my sophomore season, I was bumped up to play Varsity doubles for most tournaments. I was on and off that season till the next year came when I permanently was on Varsity for doubles.
I learned to improve on my own and adapt to new teammates to become successful.
After applying for multiple scholarships, I received one I have been very grateful for. The State Technical Excellence Scholarship is one that I took advantage of as I had showcased my experience in tech.
Throughout High School I did DECA and I took Marketing and Business courses. I even took Intro to Technology, Basic Automotive, and Small Engines.
One of my classes was Entrepreneurship where we as a class divided into departments to come up with a school store to raise money. I landed the role of the Human Resources Manager and I guided my group through our tasks successfully. We ended up raising over $19,000 for a local family in the Holmen area.
I am extremely grateful for how this scholarship has helped further my education at Western Technical College. I appreciate that my efforts throughout High School were seen and acknowledged and were able to carry into my College experience.
